Trump gives up
The Americans do not want to go back to war, but, the Iranians may be too stubborn to take the win.
According to Axios, which is close to Israeli and American intelligence, the US and Iran are close to agreeing a memo which would re-open the Strait - presumably on Iran’s terms - and limit the Iranian nuclear programme. In exchange, the Americans would lift sanctions on Iran gradually. Talks would continue for 30 days to reach a final agreement.
This came after American President Donald Trump suspended Operation Freedom to force Iran to re-open the Strait of Hormuz, which lasted barely two days and may have succeeded in ensuring the passage of two ships.
