The national operator of the Netherlands, another nation of climate berserkers, is going to add 400 km of new high energy cables and will reinforce another 600 km. Plus it will build 50.000 local transformator sheds. We're going to need a lot of back yards for those. It will only cost a few hundred B the next 15 years.

The extent of corruption in "green" energy is very underdiscussed. The West is paying for infrastructure it already has, without adding significant new capacity, because it is dismantling its pre-existing capacity. Very destructive mindset.

All these green zealots, energy transition 'experts', consultants (McKinsey wrote a big book on climate change & the energy trans: the whole thing is based on RCP8.5, a technically impossible scenario that predicts double C of what the IPCC itself predicts for 2100 - which is already a 'hazy' undertaking), and all the politicians who can build a career on doom (whether they believe it or because they're just riding the wave), are imo luxuries that highly prosperous countries can afford themselves. And not seldom exactly that prosperity is what embarrasses people on the left and has them adopt some cause.

And people on the left tend to work in gov, civil services, media, academia, think tanks and ngos’...

And, (any) activism is related to a few unfortunate modern traits and conditions:

Environmental knowledge is inversely associated with climate change anxiety

Do concerns about climate change lead to distress?

https://bit.ly/3qgiDpc

'an individual is more likely to be distressed about climate change if they are female, under the age of 35 years, have a pro‐environmental orientation, and possess personality traits such as high levels of future anxiety'

Activism as self-therapy:

Climate change anxiety and mental health: Environmental activism as buffer

'...indicating that CCA (climate change activism) is related to, but not fully accounted by, depression and anxiety symptoms

...those who identify as women, transgender, non-binary, and other gender reporting significantly higher MDD (Major depressive disorder) and GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) symptoms than those who identify as men

...Climate activism moderated the association between CCA cognitive emotional impairment and MDD symptoms

...engagement in individual action was significantly associated with lower levels of GAD symptoms'.

Well, at least some science seems settled.

Roger Pielke jr just yesterday wrote a post on the IPCC’s new scenarios including the follow up to RCP8.5. https://tinyurl.com/mr2m327x Just as hysterical, a.o. projecting the building of 7500 new coal fired plants till 2100.

We have entered Schumpeter's end-stage: capitalism has produced its undertakers. And i believe it will be especially Europe which will become a rather unsavory area with state dominated economies (for instance pension fund savings - of those states that actually save for them - directed to climate and the arms industry) and state dominated public opinion.
